Hotel Sassongher Corvara – Dolomites.  Where guests choose to return.

The choice to return. Hotel Sassongher, Corvara

There is a precise moment when a holiday stops being just a holiday.
It is not the arrival, nor the first dinner in the mountains. It is when, while packing, you already start planning when to come back.

When a guest returns for the third time, something has clearly worked.

“Another Great Experience!!!
I do not normally leave reviews, either bad or good. This was my second stay at the Hotel Sassongher and it was just as wonderful as the first trip.”

Discovering the Dolomites across different seasons

Corvara, in the heart of the Dolomites, has long been one of the most sought-after alpine destinations, with winter remaining its most iconic season. Yet there are moments that surprise even experienced travellers: late-season skiing in Alta Badia is one of them.

“This year I took my son to enjoy some springtime skiing.”

Spring skiing in the Dolomites follows a different rhythm. Perfectly maintained slopes, changing light, quieter days. A more relaxed way to experience the mountains, with greater freedom.

And then there is the Dolomiti Superski area — a world of its own, with 12 connected resorts, over 1,200 km of slopes and 450 lifts. A vast landscape that fascinates, but also requires orientation and local knowledge. This is why having a team capable of guiding each day makes the difference between a simple holiday and a stay that leaves a lasting impression.

The value of service

“The staff is 100% the best of anywhere I have ever been.”

At Hotel Sassongher in Corvara, service is what brings each stay to life.

The Sassongher team is not just a detail of the experience – it is what truly defines it. Paula, the concierge, suggests, organises and anticipates, guiding each guest through Alta Badia with tailored recommendations and itineraries shaped around individual interests. At the end of the day, there is Saro, the hotel’s chief bartnder, whose memorable cocktails and natural presence tend to stay with guest long after their departure.

The entire staff is a discreet presence that never impose itself, yet accompanies every moment with quiet warmth and genuine attentiveness.

Ski room, shuttle and effortless skiing

“They pick you up steps from the ski room and take you to the lifts.”

True luxury today is the absence of effort.

Each morning, the Sassongher shuttle departs just steps from the ski room, taking guests directly to the Dolomiti Superski lifts. Throughout the day, transfers run regularly, making movements between hotel and slopes smooth and effortless.

Equipment is already waiting in dedicated heated lockers assigned to each room — ready when needed, out of sight when not.
It is a rhythm designed for simplicity. One that quietly removes friction from the day, without ever asking for attention.

SkySpa and wellness

“The spa/sauna’s and hot tubs are wonderful. I can’t recommend the Hammam enough.”

The wellness area at Hotel Sassongher is an integral part of the guest experience. From the panoramic SkySpa to the indoor spaces, and the Wellness Oase reserved for treatments, each area offers a different way to slow down.

It is worth taking the time to explore it fully, moving between its different spaces at your own pace.

The cuisine, an experience within the experience

“The food is extraordinary.”

Dining at Sassongher is not a separate moment of the stay, but an integral part of it. Each evening, a generous and carefully composed buffet. Refined dishes prepared with attention, a selection of desserts and a well-balanced wine list are served in elegant dining rooms where Ladin tradition meets understated refinement.

A sequence of details that does not simply satisfy, but lingers in memory long after the stay.

Why guests return to Sassongher

“If you have the opportunity to stay here I highly recommend it and we will be going back for the third time next year. Its truly one of the most special places I’ve ever been.”

Hotel Sassongher is not a place you simply try once. It is a place that stays with you — and quietly becomes a place you return to.

Rating: 5/5

“I do not normally leave reviews, either bad or good. This was my second stay at the Hotel Sassongher and it was just as wonderful as the first trip. This year I took my son to enjoy some springtime skiing. The staff is 100% the best of anywhere I have ever been. Saro the bartender and Paula the concierge are exceptional. Paula can help you with all of your questions from skiing plan to restaurant recommendations. If you’ve never skied the Dolomites its not like most other places because its huge. Literally 12 ski resorts connected, 750 miles of slopes and 450 chairlifts. So believe me, you will have questions. I wish I could remember everyone’s names because the shuttle drivers, front desk and wait staff are all equally as awesome.

The shuttle drivers pick you up steps from the awesome ski room each morning and drop you off at the lifts. They also pick you up all day long every 15 minutes or so. They will also pick you up and drop you off in town up until 8-9 pm I think.

The spa/sauna’s and hot tubs are wonderful. The outdoor hot tub has a view like no other. I wish the hot tubs were a few degrees hotter but that’s just my personal preference. There are multiple Saunas at varying temperatures . be sure to ask for a tour of the amenities as it can be confusing at fist as some are outside on the roof area and some are in the spa.

I cant recommend the Hamman/Turkish Bath enough. I got a massage one day by the female masseuse and it was perfect.

The food is extraordinary! There is a Hors d’oeuvres bar every night that can be a meal itself. The list of foods on the bar is too vast to name everything but there is always a salad, vegetables, breads, cheeses, multiple meats such as Salmon, Meatballs, all kinds of other fishes, etc. Then you get two main courses you chose from a list of about 10 different options everyday. There is also a huge dessert bar. Breakfast is much the same with made to order eggs as well as the bar.

If you have the opportunity to stay here I highly recommend it and we will be going back for the third time next year. We will go back until we have skied everything we want to as it will take many trips due to so many ski areas and slopes. Its truly one of the most special places I’ve ever been.”
